Buckwheat export from Russia gets a boost in recent months

Buckwheat export from the Russian Federation has been active within the recent months, traders’ prices are higher than processors’ prices. This is according to monitoring of the Institute for Agricultural market studies (IKAR).

Irina Glazunova, deputy director general of IKAR, told Interfax that while from July, 2019 till January 2020, 29.3 thou. t. of buckwheat were exported, in the same period in 2020/2021, the export increased to 55 thou. t., according to preliminary information. Over 30 thou. t. were exported within two months, December 2020 — January 2021.

According to Glazunova, the main buyers of the Russian buckwheat were Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, China, Poland, Japan and some other countries.
